Matthew Hall Quoted by Global Competition Review on CMA Water Tanks Trial

McGuireWoods partner Matthew Hall has been quoted regarding the UK’s first criminal cartel trial in five years. Titled “CMA Loses Water Tanks Trial,” the June 24 article details recent court proceedings that resulted in the acquittal of two men accused of rigging bids for the supply of steel tanks used in water storage. Hall points out that the acquittals mark a “bad loss” for the UK Competition & Markets Authority (CMA).

“It is notable that the CMA brought the prosecution in this case expressly on the basis that it considered there to be a realistic prospect of conviction,” says Hall in quoted material. “But still the jury was unpersuaded.”
