Global Competition Review Quotes McGuireWoods’ Matthew Hall on UK Abuse-of-Dominance Ruling

August 13, 2015

McGuireWoods Brussels partner Matthew Hall is quoted in a Global Competition Review article on an abuse-of-dominance dispute between UK telecommunications competitors Packet Media and Telefonica. The August 12 article, titled “UK Judge Grants Abuse of Dominance Injunction Against Telefonica,” details a July ruling by the High Court of England & Wales giving Packet Media the right to continue using the O2 SIM chip, a telecommunications technology that allows companies to place calls from landlines over mobile networks.

Hall comments that the court “took a very pragmatic view,” but acknowledges the potential for further legal action, adding that “we should expect another round of this case in the near future.”
