National Legal Media Cover Arrival of McGuireWoods Real Estate Partner Nicholas Dancey

August 7, 2023

Law360, American Lawyer Media’s The Daily Report, Bloomberg Law, Corporate Counsel Business Journal and Global Legal Chronicle were among the legal media outlets that covered the recent arrival of McGuireWoods partner Nicholas Dancey, who joined the firm’s Real Estate & Land Use Department in Atlanta.

Dancey represents real estate funds, pension funds, life insurance companies, lenders and developers in domestic and international real estate transactions, including financings, acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures involving all asset classes. He told Law360 that he was drawn to the firm by its national reputation and collegial culture.

“When I was first talking to McGuireWoods, they reiterated to me that the firm is very invested in the Atlanta real estate practice,” Dancey said in Law360’s July 27, 2023, story. “That was important to me and to be part of it and help grow the practice is an exciting opportunity that was too hard to say no to.”

Dancey told Law360 that his previous experience as vice president and general counsel at Quadrant Real Estate Advisors brings a valuable perspective that will benefit McGuireWoods’ clients.

“I think my previous in-house experience being general counsel for a real estate debt advisor for nearly seven years, especially during this kind of downward cycle where there’s a lot of loan modifications and workouts, will help bolster the real estate practice in McGuireWoods and will also help my borrower clients as well,” Dancey said.

Dancey is the second partner to join the firm’s Atlanta office this year, following the recent arrival of environmental enforcement litigator Adam Sowatzka. Chris Greene, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Atlanta office, told The Daily Report that the firm is “opportunistic in wanting to hire good attorneys in the Atlanta market who really will fit into larger national practices that … service clients all over the country.”

Dancey’s arrival also was noted in Bloomberg Law’s daily “Wake Up Call” column and Reuters’ legal newsletter “The Daily Docket.”
