Law360, the New York Law Journal, Bloomberg Law, Axios Pro Energy Monthly, Project Finance International, and Global Legal Chronicle were among the national and international media outlets covering the arrival of Sharaf Islam, who joined McGuireWoods’ Energy Mergers & Acquisitions and Finance Practice Group as a partner in New York.
Islam assists sponsors, developers, financial institutions and institutional investors in financings for large-scale projects, including renewable energy facilities, power plants, transmission systems and digital infrastructure. He leads transactions involving joint ventures, construction and acquisition financings, and hybrid capital investments.
In Law360’s June 4, 2025, story, Islam said the proliferation of data centers is presenting new challenges compared to traditional energy or infrastructure projects and driving demand for novel financing solutions.
“There’s always been room for lawyers to help find creative solutions, but the amount of creativity that is needed these days with the data center deals, for example, is just a lot more,” Islam said. “That may be a function of the fact that this is sort of a new thing and people are still trying to figure out how best to make it all work.”
Reuters also noted Islam’s arrival in the June 5 edition of its legal newsletter, “The Daily Docket.”
