McGuireWoods LLP announced today that Matthew Hall has been appointed to serve a one-year term as vice chair of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law, International Committee, effective Sept. 1, 2012. Hall is a partner in the firm’s Brussels office, where he focuses on all aspects of European Union and United Kingdom competition law.
Hall’s appointment comes on the heels of the firm’s previous announcements that partner Howard Feller will serve as chair-elect of the ABA Antitrust Section in August 2013 and will be chairman effective August 2014, as well as partner Anne Marie Cushmac’s appointment to serve as vice-chair of the ABA Section of Antitrust Law’s Cartel and Criminal Practice Committee from August 2011 to August 2012.
Hall has seasoned experience with merger control, state aid, cartels and issues arising out of trading agreements and practices, such as abuse of dominance, distribution and agreements between competitors. He advises main parties and third-party complainants, and has regular dealings with the European Commission, the U.K. Competition Commission, the U.K. Office of Fair Trading, and other government bodies and regulators. He also has extensive experience with EU and U.K. public procurement law, acting for a wide range of purchasers and providers. He also serves as vice chair of the EU Committee Competition & Trade Task Force for the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium.
