Charlotte associate Bryan Weynand will join Wells Fargo as Senior Counsel – Escalated Regulatory Matters in late September. His last day at McGuireWoods is Sept. 9.
Weynand will join a team that focuses on escalated regulatory matters impacting Wells Fargo’s home lending business. In his new role, he will advise on internal investigations, consent orders, regulator inquiries and other regulatory matters.
Weynand joined McGuireWoods’ Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department in 2018. He defends clients in criminal and civil white-collar litigation and government investigations. His practice includes representing leading financial institutions in enforcement investigations and actions by various federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, the Securities & Exchange Commission, and federal banking regulators.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Weynand began his legal career at the Washington, D.C., office of another international law firm, where he focused on federal securities enforcement and other government investigations. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he served as an articles editor for the North Carolina Law Review.
“I will always be grateful for the opportunity to work with so many talented lawyers and learn from some of the best in their fields,” Weynand said.
“Bryan has been an extremely valuable member of our team, and we are grateful for his contributions,” said Washington, D.C., partner Todd Steggerda, chair of the firm’s Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department. “We wish him well and look forward to working with him in his new role.”
