McGuireWoods’ Justin Lowery to Join Appian

McGuireWoods Richmond partner Justin Lowery will join Appian as its deputy general counsel for intellectual property and litigation. Appian is a recognized leader in AI-powered process automation, helping companies accelerate growth and deliver superior customer experiences by improving workflows, unifying data and optimizing operations. Lowery’s last day at McGuireWoods is Nov. 16, 2023.

Lowery, a member of the firm’s IP Litigation & Transactions Department, joined McGuireWoods in 2014. He handles patent litigation disputes in federal districts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as America Invents Act post-grant review proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. 

He advises on matters for high-tech clients that involve telecommunications, e-commerce, e-banking, content management, online advertising, client/server architecture, social networking, online safety and security, authentication, medical devices and semiconductor chips. He also is a leading voice in the emerging field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
