McGuireWoods’ Charles Scheer Named Legal Aid Chicago Volunteer of the Year

McGuireWoods counsel Charles Scheer has been honored as the Volunteer of the Year by Legal Aid Chicago. Scheer will be recognized at the organization’s annual luncheon on June 11, 2026.

Scheer donates his time to Legal Aid Chicago’s Criminal Records Relief Project, which helps clients pursue expungement and sealing of records so they can move forward with greater stability and opportunity. The organization honored Scheer for his meticulous work, thoughtful advocacy and compassion for clients.

“Charles consistently goes above and beyond to ensure petitions are completed thoroughly and efficiently, helping clients remove barriers to employment, housing and economic security,” Legal Aid Chicago said in announcing Scheer’s honor.

“I’m humbled to have been chosen for this honor by Legal Aid Chicago,” Scheer said. “The organization does incredible work to ensure access to justice for people across Cook County who need a legal advocate, and I’m proud to be part of its mission.”
