Matt focuses on commercial litigation in state and federal courts. He draws on his experience as a former law clerk to three federal judges to help his clients navigate the complexities and nuances of trial and appellate practice.

Matt joined the firm in 2021 after completing clerkships for The Honorable Mark S. Davis and The Honorable Douglas E. Miller, both of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He briefly left the firm in 2022 to complete a two-year clerkship with The Honorable G. Steven Agee of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Matt graduated from William & Mary Law School where he served on the William & Mary Law Review.

  • Representation of a global manufacturer and distributor of chemical products in a contract dispute.
  • Pro bono representation of an individual client in a landlord-tenant dispute. Successfully counterclaimed against the landlord and secured the return of the client’s security deposit.
  • Representation of an American magnesium production company in arbitration arising from a dispute involving the placement of securities.
  • Representation of a New York elevator company in insurance coverage litigation arising out of claims made under three commercial general liability policies issued to our client.
  • Representation of an American private security and protection company in insurance coverage litigation arising out of a claim made under two crime policies issued to our client.
  • Representation of an individual client in defending against a partition-by-sale action.
  • Representation of a real estate development and management company in a quiet title action related to multi-family real estate development.
