Kasey focuses his practice on government investigations and white collar defense.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Kasey was an analyst with FINRA’s National Cause & Financial Crimes Detection Program where he specialized in market manipulation and fraud investigations. Kasey also served as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Residential Mortgage-backed Securities Working Group. In that role, Kasey worked with attorneys from the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s Office of Inspector General, the Securities and Exchange Commission and United States Attorneys’ offices to investigate alleged misconduct related to the 2008 financial crisis. In 2018, the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) awarded him the Investigations Award for Excellence for investigative work resulting in a multi-billion dollar settlement with a financial institution.
While in law school, Kasey served as a Senior Managing Editor for the Wisconsin International Law Journal. He also served as a legal intern in the DOJ’s Antitrust Division reviewing mergers and acquisitions of digital platforms.
