Matt focuses his practice on advising clients on environmental regulatory and compliance matters, including water and air pollution, solid and hazardous waste, wetlands and local, state and federal enforcement actions and environmental permitting. He regularly partners with clients to develop plans for clean-up and redevelopment of contaminated properties, and assists clients with environmental considerations in transactional matters.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Matt practiced environmental litigation at a regional law firm in Alabama, where he represented companies in a variety of complex environmental litigation matters. While attending law school, Matt served as a law clerk for the Office of General Counsel for the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment and a summer honors law clerk for the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance under the Environmental Protection Agency.
Prior to attending law school, Matt worked as an environmental consultant for a national environmental consulting firm where he performed site evaluation and remediation across the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
