James advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private investments and corporate matters with a focus on healthcare and life science industries. He supports companies, investors and portfolio businesses throughout the transaction lifecycle, providing practical and detail‑oriented guidance aligned with each client’s strategic objectives.

Before joining McGuireWoods, James practiced in the Private Markets group at a national law firm. During law school, he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable James A. Wynn, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

James earned his law degree from Wake Forest University, where he served on the Honor Council and participated in transactional law competitions. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University, where he studied political science and Germanic Studies which afforded him the opportunity to complete coursework in Berlin.
