In an interview with Corporate Counsel Business Journal, McGuireWoods Chairman Jon Harmon mentioned lessons in leadership he learned as a military officer in Operation Desert Storm. He also discussed the fundamentals of providing excellent client service and fostering a culture of innovation to solve clients’ problems, and ways to advance diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
In the Q&A-style article, he talked about McGuireWoods’ plans to become a national powerhouse, and noted the firm’s and McGuireWoods Consulting’s recent expansion of capabilities to address emerging technologies, from unmanned drones to fintech applications.
“I believe a key to being a powerhouse firm is to go beyond the traditional legal counsel role to also be trusted business advisors who help clients prepare for emerging trends,” he said.
