McGuireWoods sponsored and participated in the Corporate Counsel Women of Color’s annual Career Strategies Conference, held virtually Sept. 28-Oct. 2, 2020. In its 16th year, the conference included for the first time fireside chats with several corporate general counsel, as well as “power networking” opportunities with a number of corporate legal departments.
In addition to McGuireWoods’ sponsorship of the conference, several firm lawyers participated in virtual conference events. Richmond partner Candace Blydenburgh, chair of the firm’s African-American Lawyers Network, spoke in a session titled “Rebound & Reinvention: How to Build Success on Past Disappointments, Hurts, and Failures.” Downtown Los Angeles partner Tanya Greene presented “Masterclass: How to Become an Expert in Your Field and the Go-To Lawyer Within Your Company.”
Baltimore partner Ava Lias-Booker, who chairs the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and partner Melissa Martinez also attended the conference, as did Charlotte counsel Tanisha Reed and Dallas partner Phyllis Young.
