The National Journal included insights from McGuireWoods partner John Moran in a June 25, 2026, article about potential changes in Congressional oversight priorities after the midterm elections this fall.
Moran is a former Department of Justice senior official and co-leader of McGuireWoods’ Congressional Investigations Practice Group. In the article, “C-Suites Brace for a Democratic Congress,” he discussed the strategic choices some companies face as they await the outcome of an election that could shift the balance of power in at least one chamber of Congress.
“For a company and individual with a pending matter before the administration, many are assessing whether it behooves them to try to resolve the matter now or to let it play out past the midterms,” Moran said. “I don’t think there’s a one-size-fits-all answer.”
