McGuireWoods partners Philip Goldstein, Jonathan P. Harmon and James H. Walsh are among an elite group of lawyers recognized for client service excellence in BTI Consulting Group’s annual Client Service All-Stars report, which is based on unprompted feedback from leading corporate decision makers.
Boston-based BTI Consulting interviewed 322 legal decision makers from large and Fortune 1000 companies between March 9 and Sept. 10, 2015 to research all aspects of client relationships for its report.
“Those of us who have the privilege of working with these exceptional lawyers know that they go the extra mile to meet their clients’ needs, and it’s gratifying to see them receive this recognition for their outstanding work,” said Tom Cabaniss, the managing partner of McGuireWoods.
Goldstein, former managing partner of the firm’s New York office, was recognized for commercial litigation. Goldstein litigates matters in a wide range of high-profile industries and business sectors, including complex commercial litigation and arbitration, energy, and mass torts and product liability. He acted as a defense liaison counsel in defending mass tort claims brought by New York clean-up workers following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. He also has served as national counsel for Fortune 500 companies in asbestos litigation pending throughout the country.
Harmon, who is based in the firm’s Richmond office, was selected for commercial litigation and employment litigation. The chair of the firm’s business and securities litigation department, Harmon is a national trial lawyer who defends clients in complex, high exposure litigation. He represents Fortune 500 companies and other clients in federal and state courts and has won verdicts in some of the most difficult venues in the country. This is the second time in the last three years that Harmon has been listed in BTI’s Client Service All-Stars report.
Walsh, former chair of the firm’s antitrust and trade regulation department, was recognized for antitrust litigation and government investigations. He is one of only 11 antitrust practitioners named to the BTI All-Stars. Based in the firm’s Richmond office, Walsh concentrates his practice on trade regulation, but litigates and advises clients on a broad spectrum of issues, including commercial litigation, class actions, franchising, products liability, sports law and white collar crime matters. He was named Richmond “Lawyer of the Year” for antitrust litigation in 2014 and 2016 by Best Lawyers in America.
BTI has repeatedly cited McGuireWoods for its client service excellence. The firm ranked sixth in BTI’s 2016 Client Service A-Team survey and was recognized among the “Leaders of the Best” in areas that clients singled out as most important when it comes to differentiating a firm from its competitors. McGuireWoods also was among the firms garnering the highest rankings in the 2016 edition of BTI Litigation Outlook and earned top honors for product liability and complex commercial litigation.
