April 23, 2018

McGuireWoods partners Steven Adkins, Robert Bittman, Peter Covington and Douglas Foley are singled out by corporate counsel for client service excellence in BTI Consulting Group’s prestigious Client Service All-Stars report.

The report honors elite lawyers who “stand out in the sea of legal services providers to represent the cream of the crop. . . . They continue to exceed clients’ ever-rising expectations, as measured by the most demanding clients — the sole and final judge.” All-Stars were selected based on unprompted feedback from more than 350 legal decision-makers at companies with at least $1 billion in annual revenue.

Adkins, a leading Washington, D.C., intellectual property attorney, litigates high-stakes infringement cases before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He represents companies in ITC investigations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection proceedings involving industries such as automotive, chemicals, software, telecommunications, mechanical patents and semiconductors. A major energy provider nominated Adkins for the All-Stars honor.

A global technology company nominated Bittman, a Washington member of the firm’s nationally recognized Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department. A former state and federal prosecutor, he represents multinational corporations in investigations before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice and the departments of State, Treasury and Commerce. He was top deputy to Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr during the Whitewater investigation.

Covington spearheads the recruitment and integration of exceptional lawyers in his role as McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for growth and strategic initiatives. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, he handles complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on securities and financial services matters. A prominent financial services company nominated him for the All-Stars honor.

Foley, a top D.C. restructuring and insolvency lawyer, represents creditors and debtors in Chapter 11 proceedings nationwide, including the Toys “R” Us restructuring. The American College of Bankruptcy elected Foley to serve as a regent for the 4th Circuit and the D.C. Circuit. He also serves on the American College of Bankruptcy’s board of directors. A leading agribusiness company nominated him.

“Client service excellence is a core value at McGuireWoods and it is gratifying to know our clients value the skill and dedication of these outstanding lawyers,” said J. Tracy Walker IV, McGuireWoods’ managing partner. “We congratulate Steve, Bob, Peter and Doug on this honor.”
