McGuireWoods Again Ranks Among Top Firms Worldwide for Syndicated Lending Deals

McGuireWoods, one of the world’s pre-eminent banking and finance law firms, delivered another powerhouse performance for clients in 2021, ranking No. 2 worldwide for advising lenders in syndicated loans, according to authoritative league tables published by Refinitiv.

The firm advised lenders on 272 global deals valued at $237.1 billion to rank second in deal count and fourth in proceeds in the year-end league tables. McGuireWoods also ranked third in deal count and fourth in proceeds for representing lenders in U.S. syndicated loans, with 190 deals valued at $175.5 billion.

For 11 consecutive years, McGuireWoods has ranked among the top 10 U.S. law firms for deal count and dollar volume in lending league tables published by Refinitiv and its predecessor, the financial and risk business of Thomson Reuters. In 10 of those years, the firm finished among the top five in deal count.

McGuireWoods also posted strong results in Bloomberg’s Global Legal Advisers league tables, ranking third in deal count and fourth in dollar value for representing lenders in loans worldwide. For U.S. syndicated loans, the firm was third in deal count and dollar value, according to Bloomberg’s rankings. In addition, the firm finished among the top 10 in deal count and proceeds for representing lenders in leveraged finance deals.

McGuireWoods also ranked among the leading law firms for representing borrowers in syndicated loans, according to Refinitiv’s rankings. The firm was 11th in deal count and 14th in proceeds in Refinitiv’s league tables.

The firm’s notable 2021 transactions include representing Bank of America Business Capital in a $5 billion financing of a national wholesale beverage company; and representing Wells Fargo in a $2 billion senior credit facility and $1.3 billion senior notes offering to support Gray Television Inc.’s acquisition of Meredith Corp.’s Local Media Group and its 17 television stations in 12 markets.
