Richmond associate Margaret Bowman will join CarMax as senior corporate counsel for operations on Sept. 12, 2022. Her last day at McGuireWoods is Aug. 26.
In her new role, Bowman will provide legal counsel and operational risk analysis to CarMax’s management and corporate business departments.
Bowman joined McGuireWoods’ Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department in 2016. She handled complex product design-related litigation and medical device issues, contributing a chapter to the ABA-published book “Infectious Disease Litigation: Science, Law and Procedure.” She also developed a niche practice in Virginia alcoholic beverage law. She represents pro bono clients in cases ranging from domestic violence protective orders to civil rights litigation.
Before joining the firm, Bowman clerked for U.S. District Judge M. Hannah Lauck of the Eastern District of Virginia and for Richmond Circuit Court Judge Beverly W. Snukals. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif and honored with the Nina R. Kestin Award, recognizing her contributions to the school, community and legal profession.
“I will be forever grateful for everything I learned and the relationships I formed at McGuireWoods. I am proud to have spent the past six years working on interesting, complex cases for our clients,” Bowman said.
“Our team will miss Maggie and we are grateful for her many contributions,” said partner Diane Flannery, chair of the Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department. “We wish her all the best in her new role.”
