McGuireWoods Baltimore partners Alan Cason and Brian Kelly have been recognized for excellence in The Daily Record’s Leadership in Law Awards. Cason received a Lifetime Achievement Award and Kelly was named a winner of a Dealmakers Award.
Cason, an accomplished public finance lawyer, has served as lead counsel in some of Maryland’s largest economic development projects, including Baltimore Peninsula, Downtown Columbia, Harbor Point and National Harbor; and in impactful project financings for hotels, convention centers, senior living communities, solid waste recycling facilities, transportation improvements, and student and affordable housing. Since joining McGuireWoods more than two decades ago, Cason has held many leadership positions at the firm and in the central Maryland community.
“My firm is privileged to work with clients on projects that have such a positive impact in Baltimore and throughout Maryland. On behalf of my team, I am proud to be recognized for those efforts,” Cason said.
Kelly, leader of McGuireWoods’ energy industry team, assists clients in transformative mergers and acquisitions, project developments and financings, particularly in the merchant power area. He is a go-to lawyer and adviser for merchant power clients working on sophisticated retail energy platform sales; development, operation and sale of fossil fuel and renewable energy projects; and non-energy infrastructure and commodity financings.
“I am grateful to my clients for the opportunity to help them achieve their business goals and honored to receive an award for work that is important to them and to McGuireWoods,” Kelly said.
Elena Marcuss, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Baltimore office, noted: “Alan and Brian are outstanding lawyers and distinguished leaders who inspire us all with their commitment to excellence and dedication to clients. We congratulate them on these well-deserved honors.”
The honorees, selected by an outside panel of legal and business leaders, will be recognized on April 25, 2023, at the BWI Hilton in Linthicum Heights, Maryland.
