Ilene has over 20 years of experience handling a full range of commercial real estate transactions and commercial lending. She regularly represents financial institutions and borrowers in permanent mortgage loan, construction loan and conduit loan transactions secured by all asset classes and has experience originating loans intended for securitization. Her financing experience also includes foreclosures, workouts and restructuring of existing loans.

In addition, Ilene routinely provides counsel on a variety of commercial real estate matters including representing local, regional and national clients in connection with the acquisition, development and sale of commercial properties; retail, office and industrial leasing; and the formation of residential and mixed-use condominiums.

While earning her law degree at the University of Baltimore School of Law, Ilene was an editor of the Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Board and a member of the Heuisler Honor Society.

  • Representation of US-based brokerage and securities arm of a leading global bank in connection with its origination of CMBS 2.0 loans.
  • Representation of active CMBS 1.0 issuer in connection with its loan originations (core member of group of McGuireWoods attorneys that, along with a team from one other law firm, represented the originator on all of its transactions during its multi-year program).
  • Representation of a life insurance company in connection with its origination of both construction and permanent mortgage loans.
  • Representation of a purchaser of more than 200 Exxon service stations located in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
  • Representation of a national big box home improvement retailer in connection with its site acquisition efforts in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic United States.
  • Representation of a purchaser in connection with its acquisition and financing of a $140 million class A apartment building in Arlington, Virginia.
  • Representation of a national consumer electronics retailer in connection with its leasing activities.
  • Representation of a developer in connection with its formation of residential and mixed-use condominiums in the State of Maryland.
  • Representation of an aerospace and defense contractor in connection with its nationwide office and industrial leasing activities.
  • Representation of a seller of more than 150 gas stations located in Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia.
  • Representation of a purchaser of $70 million retail shopping center.
  • Representation of a national men’s apparel retailer in connection with its nationwide leasing activities.
