Shane focuses his practice on the healthcare industry, advising clients on healthcare transactions, private equity investments, regulatory compliance, digital health innovation, and general corporate matters.
Shane advises private equity investors, sponsors, portfolio companies, and healthcare organizations in connection with add-on and platform acquisitions, de novo developments, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions. His mergers and acquisitions experience ranges across the healthcare subsectors, including behavioral health companies, physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, skilled nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and healthcare technology companies, among others.
Shane is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and advises clients on HIPAA and data sharing, 42 CFR Part 2, health information technology, state healthcare privacy laws, and the regulatory and privacy implications of deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning tools in clinical and operational settings, including compliance with emerging AI governance frameworks. Shane’s regulatory work also includes advising clients on the corporate practice of medicine, changes of ownership, state and federal fraud and abuse prohibitions, and state licensure regulations.
Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Shane worked as an associate at an AM Law 100 law firm with a nationally ranked healthcare practice, as well as an associate at a Big Four consulting firm.
