Shane focuses his practice on the healthcare industry, advising clients on healthcare transactions, regulatory compliance, and general corporate matters. His mergers and acquisitions experience ranges across the healthcare subsectors, including skilled nursing homes, assisted living facilities, behavioral health nonprofits, hospitals, physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, and healthcare technology companies, among others. He also has experience assisting healthcare start-ups with entity formation, organization, and regulatory compliance.

Shane is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and has prior experience advising Fortune 100 companies on data privacy and information management best practices in order to successfully navigate legal and business requirements and mitigate risks. In the healthcare industry, he translates this experience to advise clients on HIPAA and data sharing, 42 CFR Part 2, health information technology, and state healthcare privacy laws. Shane’s regulatory work also includes advising clients on changes of ownership and other state licensing requirements.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Shane served as an associate at an AM Law 100 law firm with a nationally ranked healthcare practice, as well as an associate at a Big Four consulting firm.
