Michael P. Reynold Partner

Michael is a partner with McGuireWoods LLP and a senior vice president for McGuireWoods Consulting LLC's Grassroots & Issue Management team.

His practice focuses on healthcare, life science and technology, transportation and energy issues. In addition to representing clients before the Virginia General Assembly, state agencies, and the U.S. Congress, he is well-versed in building diverse and effective stakeholder coalitions to advocate to policy makers.

Most recently, Michael served as the deputy director of policy for Governor Bob McDonnell where he advised the governor on finance issues, transportation, healthcare, technology and administrative policy. He also served as the executive director of Governor McDonnell’s Commission on Government Reform and Restructuring.

He has been involved in Virginia politics for more than a decade. Michael was deputy campaign manager & political director for Bob McDonnell’s successful 2009 gubernatorial campaign, which was the largest margin of victory by a Virginia gubernatorial candidate in the modern two-party era. Previously, he was the Virginia state director for the 2008 McCain presidential campaign and the executive director of McDonnell for Virginia, the political action committee of then-Attorney General McDonnell. He also served as an aide to the Virginia House of Delegates majority caucus and worked briefly for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. He has also provided legal counsel to state elected officials regarding campaign finance, election law, recounts, and election contests.

In the spring of 2015, Mike raised more than $60,000 in 10 weeks for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year campaign. As a part of this effort to raise awareness and money for LLS, Mike was “pushed” out of an airplane at 11,300 feet by a 1st grader who was fighting leukemia. Yes, he is scared of heights.
