Michael serves as the director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s Georgia government relations team.
Michael previously served as a deputy assistant commissioner for the Georgia Department of Insurance. He was responsible for the department’s intergovernmental affairs, supervising the arson and insurance fraud units, as well as overseeing the licensing of property and casualty and life and health insurance companies.
Michael began his career in state politics serving as a legislative aide in both the House and Senate of the Georgia General Assembly as well as working at the Georgian Republican Party. He has managed and served as the general consultant for several political campaigns in Georgia, including Ralph Hudgens for Commissioner of Insurance in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for Whitehall Public Affairs Group providing strategic advice to a wide range of clients on regulation, communications and lobbying matters.
Michael advises clients across a broad range of industries on legislative and regulatory strategy in Georgia, with particular focus on healthcare, insurance, public safety, education, transportation, and energy. He also supports major infrastructure and technology clients—including those involved in data center development—with government relations and business expansion efforts.
Michael serves in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
