H. Holden Brooks, an accomplished litigator and strategic adviser who represents corporate clients across industries, has joined McGuireWoods’ Antitrust, Trade & Commercial Litigation Department as a partner in Chicago* and Washington, D.C.

Brooks focuses on mergers, complex litigation, criminal enforcement and counseling. She has represented healthcare providers in criminal and civil investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general, and in merger challenges in federal, state and administrative courts.

Her clients include large nonprofit health systems, physician groups and healthcare startups. Brooks also advises public companies, private equity funds, and private equity-sponsored companies as antitrust counsel on mergers and acquisitions.

“Our clients are facing enhanced antitrust enforcement and litigation. Holden’s broad experience in counseling corporate clients on compliance, transactions and litigation deepens our antitrust bench and will be of great benefit to our clients in all industries. Her particular experience in healthcare and private equity fits perfectly with our busy transactional practices and client base in those sectors,” said Dion Hayes, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation.

Brooks joins a McGuireWoods practice that represents clients throughout the world on antitrust and competition law, including litigation and government investigations, business antitrust counseling and mergers. The firm’s lawyers obtain Hart-Scott-Rodino and foreign clearance for mergers and acquisitions, as well as litigate challenges by antitrust enforcement agencies. McGuireWoods’ antitrust lawyers appear before courts, agencies and tribunals throughout the United States and in Europe.

“Holden is an important addition to our practice and the firm,” said Amy Manning, chair of the Antitrust, Trade & Commercial Litigation Department. “Clients will benefit from her litigation and merger experience and her skill designing and implementing strong antitrust compliance programs.”

“Holden will be a go-to adviser on antitrust matters for our clients,” noted Christina Egan, managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office. “Her insight is especially valuable at a time when antitrust enforcement is increasing.”

McGuireWoods earned two nationwide rankings for antitrust litigation in the 2021 edition of The Legal 500 United States, the respected independent guide to the country’s top firms and lawyers.

“McGuireWoods’ antitrust lawyers are leaders in providing creative, practical guidance for clients to compete aggressively and minimize risks,” Brooks said. “I look forward to using my experience and industry knowledge to help clients achieve their business goals.”
