McGuireWoods Charlotte associate Anna-Jamieson Beck will join the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina as a law clerk to Judge Matthew Orso. Her last day at the firm is Jan. 16, 2026.
In this role, Beck will help support the day-to-day operations of the judge’s chambers. She also will assist with civil and criminal matters, conduct legal research, draft orders and attend court proceedings.
Before joining McGuireWoods, she served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Kate M. Fox of the Wyoming Supreme Court. While in law school, she interned for Justice Philip Berger Jr. of the North Carolina Supreme Court and Judge Jefferson Griffin of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
“I have enjoyed taking my first steps as a practicing lawyer at McGuireWoods and am grateful for the wonderful colleagues who invested their time in me and taught me so much about the practice of law,” Beck said. “This clerkship opportunity would not have been possible without the help of my McGuireWoods mentors, and I have been overwhelmed by the firm’s support and encouragement.”
“Anna-Jamieson has been a terrific contributor to our team. We’ll miss her, but this is a great opportunity for her. We look forward to her return,” said Michael Herring, chair of McGuireWoods’ Commercial Litigation Department.
