As an associate in the Charlotte office, Austen focuses his practice on general labor and employment law and employment litigation, advising clients across industries on a wide range of employment matters. Prior to joining McGuireWoods, Austen clerked for Judge J. Randal Hall on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

Austen obtained his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his law degree from the University of Georgia. While in law school, Austen was a managing board articles editor for the Georgia Law Review and completed a full-time externship with Judge William M. Ray II of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
