McGuireWoods made headlines in the nation’s leading legal industry publications when it announced the launch of its Seattle office anchored by an elite team of litigation partners.
The National Law Journal, Bloomberg Law, Law360 and Reuters were just some of the media outlets that devoted coverage to the firm’s Feb. 5, 2026, announcement. The nine founding partners of the Seattle office deepen the firm’s considerable capabilities in class actions, multidistrict litigation, commercial and product liability litigation, antitrust litigation and appellate matters. They also enhance McGuireWoods’ lengthy roster of first-chair trial attorneys, accomplished appellate practitioners and strategic advisers who represent clients in their most significant matters in courtrooms and tribunals around the world.
“Having the ability to work in a fantastic firm and grow that brand into a new market was an exciting opportunity for us,” said Rike Connelly, managing partner of the Seattle office, in an interview with Bloomberg Law.
McGuireWoods Managing Partner J. Tracy Walker IV told the NLJ that the firm’s expansion into the Pacific Northwest “allows us to better serve our clients who do have a significant connection there, and it opens the door to many opportunities for us through the relationships that these new partners have and just being present there and building our brand out further nationally.”
Walker also emphasized that McGuireWoods will pursue opportunities to grow the Seattle office.
“We really hope to use this as a foundation to expand into some other [practice] areas. There [are] great energy lawyers there. There are great transactional lawyers there,” he said.
Corporate Counsel Business Journal underscored the strength of the firm’s Seattle foundation in its Feb. 6, 2026, story.
“Rather than entering the market incrementally, McGuireWoods arrives with a fully formed senior team, signaling a targeted expansion strategy focused on high-stakes litigation and appeals,” CCBJ reported. “The group brings experience across complex commercial disputes, product liability, antitrust, multidistrict litigation, and appellate matters.”
Legal Business, The Global Legal Post, Global Legal Insights, Commercial Dispute Resolution, Global Legal Chronicle and the Puget Sound Business Journal also covered the firm’s Seattle announcement.
