McGuireWoods’ Chris Thanner Honored Among Northeast Florida’s ‘Ultimate Attorneys’

February 5, 2019

Jacksonville Business Journal has recognized McGuireWoods partner Christopher Thanner among its 2019 “Ultimate Attorneys,” which honors accomplished lawyers and corporate counsel who have contributed significantly to the legal profession and the Jacksonville community.

“I am grateful to be recognized among this esteemed group of lawyers who have done so much for the practice of law and for the community,” said Thanner, who was selected in the real estate category.

Thanner leads multimillion-dollar real estate transactions throughout the Southeast. He recently led a McGuireWoods team in relocating VyStar Credit Union – the largest credit union headquartered in Northeast Florida – to downtown Jacksonville, furthering the city’s efforts to revitalize the district. He is past chair of the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Section of Real Property Law, and is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for real estate law.

Thanner, who now serves as McGuireWoods’ Jacksonville office pro bono coordinator, led a team in providing pro bono real estate counsel to assist the Sulzbacher Center in building Sulzbacher Village, a new community for disadvantaged women and families in Jacksonville. The Village, which opened in May 2018, houses 350 family members and provides free health services to residents of the Village and members of the surrounding community. Under Thanner’s leadership, the McGuireWoods team formed new entities and arranged public financing under a complex tax credit structure, among other initiatives.
