McGuireWoods partner H. Ramsey White III was a finalist for Private Equity Dealmaker of the Year in The Deal’s Middle Market Awards. The awards honor leading lawyers, bankers, investors and advisers for transactions closed in 2018. Winners were announced March 26 at a ceremony in Chicago.
White was instrumental in closing numerous deals for clients in 2018, including three transactions for Charlotte-based private investment firm Summit Park. He advised Summit Park in its February 2018 recapitalization of Fast Growing Trees, an e-commerce retailer of trees and shrubs; its June sale of records management company Arkive to Access CIG; and its December recapitalization of Freedom Electronics LLC, a provider of fuel dispenser, point-of-sale and automatic tank gauge spare parts.
White’s significant 2018 deal work also included representing Charlotte private equity firm Carousel Capital Partners in its sale of Caldwell & Gregory, a laundry facility management services company, to Incline Equity Partners.
White advises private equity funds, independent sponsors and family offices in leveraged buyouts, noncontrol investments, mezzanine loans, venture capital investments and sales of portfolio companies. He was an accountant at PriceWaterhouse before becoming a lawyer.
“Ramsey’s in-depth knowledge of his clients’ business and his creative approach to solving problems make him an outstanding transactional lawyer, and this recognition is well deserved,” said Geoff Cockrell, leader of McGuireWoods’ private equity industry team.
McGuireWoods ranked among the top 10 law firms for middle-market private equity deals in Bloomberg’s 2018 league tables. Mergers & Acquisitions magazine named McGuireWoods “Law Firm of the Year” in its 2017 Mid-Market M&A Awards, honoring the firm for the growth of its deal work and for innovative, client-focused private equity initiatives.
