Andriana Shultz Daly, an accomplished litigator and in-house counsel who focuses on intellectual property and high-stakes commercial disputes, has returned to McGuireWoods as a partner in Richmond, Virginia.
Daly has more than a decade of experience handling intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation. She advises clients across industries, including pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, medical device manufacturers, telecommunications providers, financial institutions, and colleges and universities.
Daly returns to McGuireWoods after serving as associate general counsel at Indivior Inc., a global pharmaceutical company, where she managed a litigation portfolio that included Hatch-Waxman matters, antitrust and securities class actions, and product liability multidistrict litigation. Daly also served as Indivior’s primary legal adviser on compliance, advising on government agreements and internal investigations as well as Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act compliance, employment issues and other matters.
“Andi established herself as an outstanding litigator and strategic adviser at McGuireWoods and we are thrilled she is back at the firm,” said Noreen Kelly, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation. “The insight she gained as associate general counsel at Indivior enhances our growing life sciences capabilities and our IP and commercial litigation practices.”
Daly joined McGuireWoods as an associate in 2011 after serving as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson of the Eastern District of Virginia. She was elevated to partner in 2018 and joined Indivior in 2021.
“Andi has a unique skillset, combining an in-house counsel’s perspective with the experience of a first-chair trial lawyer who has guided clients through highly technical IP and commercial disputes,” said David Finkelson, co-leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. “She is a tremendous asset to our practice and clients.”
McGuireWoods’ intellectual property lawyers help clients develop, protect and leverage commercially valuable ideas and information, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets and other creative assets. The firm was honored at the Managing IP Americas Awards this year for its pivotal role representing The Pennsylvania State University in a high-profile trademark infringement dispute that was recognized as the “Impact Case of the Year.”
“Partnering with the business as in-house counsel was incredibly insightful and rewarding, but McGuireWoods is home to me. I cannot wait to apply my new perspectives as I reconnect with clients and collaborate with colleagues across the firm,” Daly said.
Janet Peyton, managing partner of the firm’s Richmond office, added: “Andi has been an important contributor to our litigation practice and a valued member of our McGuireWoods family. We are happy to welcome her back.”
