McGuireWoods has appointed John E. Thomas Jr. to serve as office managing partner in Tysons, Virginia, effective Sept. 1, 2026. Thomas succeeds partner Jack L. White, who has led the office since 2023.
Thomas is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. He is an experienced trial lawyer who represents businesses in disputes involving misappropriation of trade secrets, covenants not to compete, breaches of contract, whistleblower retaliation, defamation, wage-and-hour laws, leave laws and discrimination statutes. Thomas is active in community leadership, serving on the Fairfax Local Access to Justice Commission, the Associates Board of Directors for the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, and the Board of Directors of the Workhouse Arts Foundation.
White, a partner in the firm’s Government Investigations & White Collar Litigation Department, is moving to the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. White is co-leader of McGuireWoods’ Congressional Investigations Practice Group and chairs the firm’s Associates Committee. He focuses on civil litigation, regulatory enforcement and congressional investigations for clients in the defense, technology, federal contracting and other business sectors.
