Joie represents companies in a wide spectrum of high-stakes disputes—ranging from government and internal investigations to policyholder insurance coverage disputes—across a broad range of industries including financial services, energy, telecommunications, and food services. She also represents clients in complex civil litigation in both state and federal court.

As a firm believer in community service, Joie maintains an active pro bono practice, representing defendants in federal court as well as local journalists in state court seeking access to public records from governmental bodies. The Mecklenburg Bar Association recognized Joie’s pro bono efforts, awarding her the MBA’s Pro Bono Outstanding Individual Attorney Award for 2025. Because of her passion for serving her community, Joie recently joined the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s STANDOUT Class of 2026, a professional development and leadership program that honors young professionals who exemplify leadership, are actively engaged in their communities, and are excelling in their careers.

An active member of the Charlotte community, Joie previously served as the chair of the White-Collar Crime/Government Investigations Section of the Mecklenburg Bar Association. She also served on the MBA’s Pro Bono & Legal Recruitment Committee. Joie enjoys serving in Forest Hill Church’s children’s program, spending her Sundays with pre-K kids, as well.

Before joining McGuireWoods, Joie served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joel M. Carson III on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Joie was a three-time Academic All-American as a member of the West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Division II cross country team. She still runs and enjoys marathon training when not at work.
