Ashley assists companies and financial institutions in complying with consumer and business-purpose financial services, payments, privacy and cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and governance matters.

She counsels organizations on compliance with the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Consumer Leasing Act (CLA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA), Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN Act), and related state financial services, consumer protection, and unfair or deceptive trade practices laws. She also advises commercial lenders on compliance with state commercial financing disclosure laws applicable to business-purpose credit and financing products, including loans and factoring.

Ashley frequently assists companies in navigating state and federal privacy and data security requirements, including the intersection of state privacy laws with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).

She also has significant experience with state licensing regimes applicable to money transmitters, lenders, collection agencies, and real estate brokerages. She assists clients in obtaining licenses, responding to regulator examinations and investigations, and structuring financial services programs to reduce regulatory burden and enforcement risk.

Ashley advises home warranty companies on compliance with federal and state laws and regulatory guidance, including the development of a state-by-state compliance handbook for home warranties and service contracts. She also advises clients on state and federal automatic renewal and home solicitation sales laws.

Ashley holds the CIPP/US credential as a Certified Information Privacy Professional from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Ashley earned her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a two-year recipient of the Dillard Fellowship, served as president of the Public Interest Law Association, and was elected to the Raven Society. She also holds a master’s degree in newspaper journalism from New York University, where she received a grant to participate in the Russian-American Journalism Institute. Her bachelor’s degree is from Texas Lutheran University. Before attending law school, Ashley worked as a consultant for USAID in the United States and Afghanistan, focusing on local governance development programs.
