Kelly’s practice focuses on complex commercial and business litigation. She advises banking institutions and corporations across a broad range of industries in all phases of litigation in state and federal courts across the country. As a member of McGuireWoods’ Appeals & Issues team, Kelly also has extensive experience in appeals in both state and federal courts.
As part of Kelly’s business litigation practice, she has served as counsel for plaintiff businesses in defamation and related business tort litigation. Kelly has particular experience developing comprehensive litigation strategies to achieve business objectives.
Kelly also defends financial institutional clients in national class actions related to mortgage servicing and foreclosure.
Before joining McGuireWoods, Kelly served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Conrad Jr. on the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. Kelly also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael L. Robinson on the North Carolina Business Court.

- Argued and briefed a pro bono habeas appeal in the 4th Circuit that resulted in a published decision in which the 4th Circuit vacated the district court’s decision.
- Representation of mortgage servicer in putative class action under RESPA.
- Counsel for plaintiff in bet-the-company defamation and related business tort litigation matters.
- Representation of financial institution in mass actions alleging wrongful foreclosure.
- Defense of corporations in class actions alleging fraud, breach of warranty, violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and unjust enrichment.
