Law360 and Global Legal Chronicle were among the media outlets that reported on McGuireWoods’ appointment of new office managing professionals in its Dallas and Austin offices.
Continuing its practice of rotating key leadership positions, McGuireWoods announced on July 6, 2026, that partner Justin Opitz will succeed Jason Cook as office managing professional in Dallas. Partner D. Brennen Keene succeeds Holly Deshields as office managing professional in Austin.
Opitz told Law360 in its July 7 story that McGuireWoods has “deep strengths in private equity, debt finance, financial services litigation, intellectual property and healthcare, to name just a few.”
“I’ve always believed in what McGuireWoods is building in Dallas, and stepping into this role felt like a natural way to give back to an office and a team that have given me so much,” Opitz said. “Jason Cook did a tremendous job leading our office, and I want to continue his efforts to push us forward.”
Keene told Law360 that he’s seen firsthand how Austin sits at the crossroads of so many of the industries driving growth in Texas.
“When the opportunity to lead this office came along, I was drawn to it because I believe my background in energy and development gives me a useful perspective on where this market is headed and how McGuireWoods can serve clients here even more effectively,” Keene said. “Austin has tremendous momentum, and my goal is to make sure our office keeps pace with it.”
