A key part of our Energy practice focuses on electric and gas utilities and the whole gamut of transactional, operational, and regulatory issues they face. We represent utilities and utility holding companies in mergers and acquisitions, ongoing corporate financings, supply chain transactions, securities matters, governance and general corporate matters, executive compensation matters, development of new transmission lines and pipelines, and every other type of transaction or issue that eventually presents itself to a public utility.
We also regularly represent energy utility clients in regulatory proceedings before state public utility commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory bodies. We have litigated cases around the country under the FPA, Natural Gas Act, Natural Gas Policy Act, Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, Energy Policy Act of 1992, Energy Policy Act of 2005, and a variety of state energy regulatory statutes, as well as under the major environmental laws.
